Girl, do you have any idea who you are?
Growing up on the west side of Detroit, I remember getting off the bus with my violin (that I barely knew how to play) walking super slow down the side walk under the shadow of the trees until I reached our six step brick porch. I thought I knew exactly who I was - Betty's daughter, raised in the church, loved by my family and friends with a dream of being a designer one day. Never in a million years did I think I would wake up 20 years later in tears, after many failures, many mistakes, and some triumphs, that I would be full of distractions that I invited into my life which would cause me to question my very own existence.
I forgot who I was. More, did I ever really know?
In this life, I'm sure you've been told "how you see things now is not how you will see them when you get older". At the time, I had no idea what that meant, because how I saw things, then as a little girl, were crystal clear. I knew who I was (so I thought), and I knew where I was and I knew what I wanted to be when I got older. However, I was missing a key component to my thinking method. I didn't know who's I was. I knew I was Betty and George's daughter, but I failed to realize that my Maker, my Creator, the reason I breathe (literally) was God. I was His.
Without this in the forefront of our minds, we are likely to be faced with the question, who am I, when adversity currents from the enemy or just life in general come to challenge us.
But in God, we are first, loved. That's the key component for us to remember. WE ARE LOVED. Once we know this, it will be easier to comprehend and live out who we are and who we were always created to be. Love, cared for, forgiven, courageous, strong, resilient, and most of all conquerors of all things that Christ (our gift from God, Himself) gives us strength for.
So, please, remember who you are. God created you to be victorious. God created you to command things that be not, as though they were, into existence. God created you in love (not matter how you got here or who your parents are), with purpose, and a plan and to prosper you with hope and a future bigger and brighter than you can ever imagine. God created you to make a difference in the world around you as a Holy Spirit filled girl, and you can do it! It's time for us to hold our heads up and walk in the victorious path of love and strength to concur and endure, so that we can show our children, our friends, our co-workers and all those around us how to do the same.
So, Let's Go and Enjoy this journey!
